ALICANTE BOUSCHET
The Signature Reynolds Variety
Alicante Bouschet, or Alicante Henri Bouschet, is a grape variety that has been extensively cultivated since 1866. It is a cross between Petit Bouschet (itself a cross between the old Teinturier du Cher and Aramon) and Garnacha.
It was introduced in Portugal by the Reynolds family more than a century and a half ago.

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE AND SUSTAINABILITY
The soils are schist-based, and the changes in elevation create a marked thermal variation between day and night, which favours the optimal ripening of the grapes. A perfect setting for the Reynolds family to grow truly distinctive fruit.
The main varieties planted are the traditional ones of the region: Trincadeira, Aragonês, Alfrocheiro, Arinto and Alicante Bouschet — the latter introduced to Portugal by the Reynolds family more than a century and a half ago, and still used today as the foundation of their red wines.
